Amy O. Mason Obituary

Amy O. Mason of the Sewickley area since 1979, passed away early Sunday morning, May 26, 2024, surrounded by family and caregivers. Born on September 2, 1941, Amy grew up in Bryn Mawr, PA and Pocomoke City, MD. She enjoyed working at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA, as a theological librarian for 19 years. At age 50, Amy completed a Masters Degree in Library Science at the University of Pittsburgh. She ended her career on a playful note as a children’s librarian at Northern Tier Regional Library in Gibsonia, PA. Afterwards, she shared her love of reading books with her grandchildren. Amy lived out her faith at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Sewickley, PA. Amy’s husband of 41 years and twin daughters were her pride and joy.


Amy is survived by her daughters Anne Melnyk (Ted) and Julie Gilpin (Lewis); grandchildren, James Melnyk (Jennifer), Emily Robinson (Rumane), Bailey Gilpin (Zoe), Mason Gilpin, Marshall Melnyk (Florencia), Amy Gilpin, Julia Melnyk; great grandchildren, Levi Melnyk and Rory Robinson; brothers, Byron Ollendike (Joyce) and John Ollendike.


Amy was preceded in death by her husband, John Mason, brother, William Ollendike, and grandson, William Gilpin.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley, PA 15143. Interment will be private to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
