Age 85, of Edgeworth, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Charles B. Furness. Loving mother of Dr. Bruce W. “Bryce” Furness, Denis B. (Carla) Furness, and Heather P. (the late James) Leeming. Grandmother of Jessica (Chris Arensberg) Furness, Nicole (Chris) Thompson, and Kobe Leeming. Great-grandmother of Jackson, Henley, Evalyn, Derek, and Dante. Sister of Fred L. Buswell III. Daughter of the late Fred L. Buswell, Jr. and Evalyn E. (Post) Buswell. Carol will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Carol was well known as a “Homeroom Mom” at Quaker Valley, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Sunday school teacher at Sewickley Presbyterian Church. But more importantly, Carol was a comforting soul to all who knew her.
As per Carol’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Private interment will take place in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire, in the summer of 2025. Arrangements are entrusted to RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, www.marinelife.org/give/, which is a non-profit Sea Turtle & Ocean Conservation organization that Carol felt strongly about. If, like her, you are not online, you can mail a check to: Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Attn: Development Office, 14200 US Highway 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408.
