Charles H. Susko, 76, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Sewickley, passed away quietly at home on August 31, 2023, after a long battle with heart disease.
Charles was born on October 20, 1946 to Harry Susko and Julia (Cheremeta) Susko in Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Kucera) Susko; brother, Robert Susko (Catherine Susko); and his nephew, Robert “Max” Susko.
After Charles graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1964, he went on to study Business Administration majoring in Industrial Relations at Kent State University earning a BBA. He started his professional life in 1972 at Urban Systems Development Corp., a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Corporation, located in Stuart, Florida. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the Westinghouse International Audit Group and the Power Generation businesses. In 1989, he was selected by top level management and approved by the Board of Directors to receive a Special Award in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the success of Westinghouse that year. He transitioned to Siemens Corporation in 1997 when the Power Generation business was sold and continued on to consult for them long after his retirement in 2005.
While the majority of his work life was headquartered in Florida, his position provided extensive international travel all over the world covering over 30 countries encompassing Europe, Egypt, Japan, Libya, and Latin America and more. During the 1970’s, he had the opportunity to live and work abroad in Krsko, Yugoslavia.
Charles was an avid saltwater fly fisherman and an active boater. When he wasn’t on the water or the shore landing the “big” one, he enjoyed the peaceful art of tying his own flies. One of his most memorable fishing trips was in 2019 with his brother Bob to the island of Andros for bone fishing.
