Age 84, of Coraopolis, formerly of Sewickley, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Beloved father of David Tyrone (Carolyn) Johnson and Felicia A. (Robert C. Patterson, Jr.) Steele. Cherished brother of Phyliss Caldwell, Timothy (Robin) Phillips, Renee (Rick) Shaw, Cherie Davis, Letisia Gill, John (Lindsey) Davis, Shawn (Mark) Lewis, Marlin Davis and the late Silvia Steele and Deborah Williams. Son of the late Elmer Steele and Ann E. Duncan. Sonny is also survived by and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sonny was a standout track and football athlete and was inducted into the Quaker Valley Sports Hall of Fame. Sonny also proudly served in the United States Army and Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After serving in the military, Sonny worked for Shenango Inc. as an iron worker until his retirement.
All are welcome for visitation on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. following visitation. Immediately following the Funeral Service, Sonny will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, suggested donations can be made to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA 15017, (724) 746-4363.
