Colleen Connors

Colleen Connors, 59, of Verland House 109 in Sewickley, PA passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025 in her home.

Colleen was born on January 14, 1966 in Sewickley, PA to the late John Henry Connors and Doris (Schilpp) Connors. Colleen is survived by her Mother Doris, her sister Heather Anne Connors, her brother John Michael Connors, Uncle Kevin Connors, and Nephews John Michael Connors II and Allen David Schrey.

As a child, Colleen liked watching her siblings play video games. Her favorite song was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. And her family nickname was “Kitty”.

Colleen arrived at the Verland Flamingo Road home in Penn Hills, PA in 1989 at the age of 23. She moved to House 107 in 1995 and then to House 109 in 2020 both on Verland’s Sewickley campus.

Colleen was a joy to be around and was known for her giggle and big smile! Her family referred to her as their “precious angel". Colleen enjoyed spending one-on-one time with familiar staff, pleasure feeds, music therapy and activities, her friends in the barn, and being read to. 

She attended ATF classes and enjoyed recent outings to Dave & Buster’s, Starbucks, the Zoo and Target.

Colleen is also survived by many friends and caring people who lived with her and helped her at Verland. All who knew Colleen recognized her as a blessing from God. She will be missed by all.

A Burial Committal Service by Verland Chaplain, Evelyn Wheeler was celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 9 a.m., in Sewickley Cemetery, 501 Hopkins Street, Sewickley, PA 15143.

A Celebration of Life-Memorial Service is scheduled for Colleen on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10 a.m., at Verland Sewickley Campus ATF. All are welcome to attend.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Verland Foundation, 212 Iris Rd. Sewickley, PA 15143 or a charity of one’s choice in her memory.
