Obituary

David Devere Johns, son of Nancy Walters Johns and Kenneth E. Johns, Sr., passed away on August 23, 2022.  David spent his life in Sewickley, PA and graduated from  Quaker Valley High in 1963.  Starting in 1965, he served two tours of duty as a Green Beret in the Vietnam conflict. David was an alumni of Slippery Rock College and Robert Morris University.  He maintained a successful career as a credit union auditor and accountant.  David was a longtime Sewickley Kiwanis Club member and supported many individuals through the A.A. program.

David’s adventurous spirit and sense of humor will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter Renee (David) Geikler, son Jay Johns, step daughter Karla Rousch, and two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Megan Geikler. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann Johns-Lasswell, sister in law, Barbara Johns, and many loving nieces and nephews who knew him as “Uncle D.J.” He was predeceased by his wife Nancy Gilbert Johns, his brother Kenneth E. Johns, Jr., and granddaughter Miranda Johns.

The family extends a special thank you to Chi Chi with Apple Blossom Senior Living in Moon Township.   A celebration of life service will be held at St. Stephens Church on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements are being made by Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
