It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald David Fisher, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 1, 1935, Ger was the son of the late Norman and Charlotte (Becker) Fisher, and the brother of the late Dr. James Fisher.
Ger’s love for his family and community defined his life. He was a devoted husband to Donna (Shaffer), with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Lynn (Kirk) Anderson, Pamela Kruschke, and David (Kristen) Fisher. His legacy lives on through his six cherished grandchildren: Berkley Kruschke, Hanna Anderson, Troy Fisher, Cole Kruschke, Luke Anderson, and Payton Fisher.
A graduate of Schenley High (1953) and the University of Pittsburgh (1957), Ger went on to enjoy a successful 38-year career with Columbia Gas. Ger’s commitment to his country and community was evident through his involvement with numerous organizations. He was a proud US Army Veteran, member of the Ambridge Rotary Club, the Airport Chamber of Commerce, the Sewickley Board of Trade, and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.
He was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, multi-sport athlete and wood carver. A man of deep integrity, he will be remembered for his infectious laugh, twinkle in his blue eyes, warm heart, kindness, and unwavering loyalty. His presence will be deeply missed.
In addition to his family and work, Ger’s spirit of generosity extended to many charitable causes. Family and friends will be received for visitation on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at ANTHONY J. SANVITO FUNERAL HOME., 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108, where a Memorial Service celebrating Ger’s life will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, Ger will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors in Sewickley Cemetery. Arrangements for Ger, have been entrusted to RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD.
