James Kenneth "Pat" Maloney, 92, of Sewickley, PA, passed peacefully in the early hours of February 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy A. "Dot" Maloney and daughter Valerie Gardner. Pat is survived by three children: Jonathan Maloney (Sally Ann) of Sewickley, Ann Scotto (Jack) of Cranberry, and Kathryn Kokosza (Frank) of Beaver Falls. He was the grandfather of five: Caleb and Jake Cortese, William Harper, Theodore Maloney, Lauren Fiochetta, and Stephen Sweeney. He was the great-grandfather of ten. He is also survived by his dear friend, Janice Melonic of Sewickley.
A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, Pat spent his post-military life giving back to his community. Leveraging his experience with the Air Force, Pat served first as an air traffic controller and later the Operations Manager at Pittsburgh International Airport, where he enjoyed high regard for his attention to detail. He served as a revenue agent for Dixmont State Hospital and was a Justice of the Peace. In Sewickley, Pat served on the town council, the Parking Authority and the Water Authority. A past commander of American Legion Post 4, he was best known throughout the town for organizing the Sewickley Memorial Day parade every year for an amazing 50 straight years. Friends and family alike remember him as a caring, gracious and generous man.
Friends will be received on Monday, February 6th from 12-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 7th from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at The Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
