Jane C. Wharrey

Age 98, of Sewickley Hills, on Monday, June 19, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Andrew C. Wharrey and Minnie (Merriman) Wharrey-Gray. Sister of the late William A. Wharrey, Mae Trapp, Viola L. Rand, John E. Wharrey, and Hazel P. Cottage. Jane is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jane also leaves behind her beloved dog, Jackson.

Jane had a love for horses and was a pillar in the equestrian community in Sewickley. Jane ran a successful horse breeding business for many years in Sewickley Hills. Later in life, she transformed her breeding barn into a horse boarding business, and many of her boarders became like family to her, as she was always there to help them. At around the age 90, Jane was no longer able to do the physically demanding work at the barn, but there was nothing she liked more than to come down to the barn and sit with her boarders as they tacked up their horses.

Friends received from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at THE RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, following visitation, at 3:00 p.m. in Little Hill United Methodist Church, 2350 McGee Rd. Ext., Sewickley, PA 15143. Interment to follow in Little Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
