Joseph F. Smith

Joseph F. Smith, 69, former resident of Sewickley, Pa. passed away on July 23, 2022. Son of the late Leo Paul Smith Jr. and Eleanor Someroak Smith, Joe grew up in Sewickley, graduating from Quigley High School and then Duquesne University with a Batchelors and Masters Degree in English. His education led him to be a Journalist for The Sewickley Herald and The Publisher and Editor of "Sewickley Magazine". He was very active in The Sewickley Historical Society where he was on the Historical Review Commission and instrumental in establishing Historical Districts in Sewickley. Joe is survived by his sister Mary T. Smith of Pittsburgh and his Cousin Steven Kutlenios. Joe is also survived by his partner David Auer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul Leo Smith and his dear Aunt Mildred Someroak. Friends will be received in The Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 328 Beaver Street Sewickley, Pa. 15143 on Thursday July 28, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial Will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in Divine Redeemer Parish (Formerly St. James Catholic Church) Sewickley, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent in Joe's name to Sewickley Library 500 Thorn Street Sewickley, Pa. 15143
