Josephine M. (Yankello) Toia

Josephine M. (Yankello) Toia, 96, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Apple Blossom Senior Living facility in Moon Township. 

Born November 27, 1929 in Ambridge, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Napoleon) Yankello. She was a 1947 graduate of Sewickley High School. She and her husband owned and operated Chapel Superette in Center Twp. and was the bookkeeper for her brothers at Yankello's Video & Audio in Sewickley.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Sewickley, a devoted member of the church choir since 1984 and Charter member of the 55+ club.  She was also an active member of Silver Sneakers for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno; brothers, Anthony and Frank; her son Nicholas; and her son-in-law Patrick Sanders. 

Surviving is her son Joseph, of Harrisburg, PA; daughter Joan Ciotti, of Lake Worth, Florida and her daughter-in-law Deborah Friedman, of Squirrel Hill, PA. She is also survived by two brothers Mike Yankello (Ruth), of Sewickley, PA and Tom Yankello (Linda), of Beaver, PA and sisters-in-law, Lilian Yankello, of Baden, PA and Donna Yankello, of Moon Township, PA, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 3-7 p.m., at RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., in St. James Church - Divine Redeemer Parish, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Josephine will be laid to rest in St. James Cemetery, 417 Water Works Rd., Sewickley, PA 15143, immediately following the Funeral Mass.
