Nanette Kirk Brannon

Nanette Kirk Brannon, age 71 peacefully passed into the hands of God, in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, on July 9, 1949, the middle child of our parents, the late Rev. Thomas E. Brannon Sr., of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Virginia Kirk Brannon of Sewickley.

As a child, Nanette attended St. Matthews AME Zion Church of Sewickley, and participated in Sunday School and many other church activities, such as holiday programs.  She enjoyed many hobbies – sewing, cooking, walking, and especially shopping.

Upon graduation from high school in 1967, Nanette worked for Bradley Caterers of Sewickley, for several years, as a food preparer, before moving onto working as a seamstress for almost 10 years with Rice Company, of Pittsburgh.  In 1988, she received the certificate of Human Services Aide awarded by the Community College of Allegheny County, College Center-North Campus.  Following that period, she worked in the hospitality field for several years, before having to end her employment due to health challenges. 

She leaves behind her two devoted brothers, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Brannon, Enola, PA, and Dr. Thomas (JoAnn) Brannon, Nashville, TN, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews represented in the Brannon, Rucker, Harris, Murphy, Grey, and Cottom families.

Friends received in the Sewickley Cemetery Mausoleum on Friday, February 5, 20201 from 10am-11am where services will be held.  Adhering to the Covid-19 protocol, there will only be 25 persons allowed to attend.  Arrangements by the Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Inc.
