Patricia Anne "Trish" Boyle-Lockerbie Obituary

Patricia Anne “Trish” Boyle-Lockerbie, age 68, of Homer City, Pennsylvania, formerly of Avalon, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Trish was born on March 16, 1957, at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved daughter of the late John E. Boyle and Ida May Boyle.

Trish completed some college studies at F.I.T. and the University of Pittsburgh. She devoted her entire professional life to medical research, beginning her career in 1973 and working for 35 years as a research technician. She retired from UPMC, where her dedication to research was well known. Trish genuinely loved her work, which brought her great pride, confidence, and happiness. Even the challenges she faced—including a memorable incident in 2008 where she was bitten by a monkey—never diminished her passion for the field.

On December 26, 1996, Trish married Robert William Lockerbie, the love of her life. The two met in 1977 when Trish was just 20 years old. Through life’s many ups and downs, they remained deeply devoted to one another and believed they were soulmates. Robert passed away on January 1, 2012, and Trish treasured their time together above all else.

Among Trish’s greatest accomplishments were her 35-year career in medical research, her artistic creations—especially her cherished “the Moon Family”—and her dedication to rifle marksmanship and karate. Her priorities in life were clear: her husband, her work, and her art.

Raised Catholic, Trish was not a regular churchgoer but held a strong belief in God and the afterlife. She most fondly remembered the time spent with her husband and her beloved dog, Manny.

Trish enjoyed drawing, painting, reading, and fishing (always catch and release). She loved traveling to Aruba, favored the color pink and orchids, and delighted in summer. Her favorite book was Gone with the Wind, and her favorite song was “We Can Work It Out” by The Beatles.

Though her life was, in her words, a rollercoaster, Trish felt she had received everything she could have dreamed of and wished for.

Trish will be deeply mourned and missed by her dear friends, Ms. Julie Banks, Mrs. Selma Cetin-Ferra, Ms. Barbara Chase, Mr. Kurth Hetrick, and Mr. Rege Kulpa. Julie and Selma were not only close friends but also valued colleagues throughout Trish’s career, while Barbara, Kurth, and Rege were very close friends who shared in her journey.
