Age 85, of Sewickley, unexpectedly passed away in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Ruth was the daughter of the late Byron and Alda (Tegge) Munro. Wife of the late Carl Lessman and Duncan A.J. Morrison. Beloved mother of Robert D. (the late Lori) Morrison. Most loving "Granny" of William M. Morrison. Cherished sister of the late Gordon (surviving spouse, Phyllis) Munro. Ruth will be sadly missed by in-laws, extended family, neighbors and friends.
Ruth was a quiet, gentle and remarkably independent woman, whose life was defined by kindness, strength, compassion, and selflessness. At 85 years young, Ruth remained active and capable, taking great pride and purpose in the care of her home on the inside and out, along with the upkeep of her garden and daily responsibilities. Ruth had a lifelong passion for helping others and generously gave her time and life through volunteer work, including organizing fundraisers for Sewickley Valley Hospital and Valley Care, dedicating time in volunteering at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Sewickley Music Club.
Ruth was an animal lover at heart. She took great care and found comfort in feeding the neighborhood wildlife and animals who would often find themselves making their way back to Ruth's home for snacks and treats. She also enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, surrounding herself in nature and most recently collecting fine furniture, figurines, antique decor and fine China.
Ruth will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and more than anything, as a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend.
As per Ruth's wishes, there will be no visitation. Services and interment will be held privately for the family. Ruth will be laid to rest with her late husband Carl, in Sewickley Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108.
